About Baton Rouge Edu Funding & our data

An independent guide to LA GATOR and private-school options in East Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston and West Baton Rouge parishes and the nearby Iberville, Pointe Coupee, East Feliciana, Assumption, St. James and Tangipahoa parishes, built from public state and federal records.

Where the data comes from

The state's approval list. The Louisiana Department of Education, 2025-2026 BESE-Approved Nonpublic Schools Academic Classification List & Brumfield v. Dodd Approvals (May 19, 2025) lists every BESE-approved nonpublic school with its grades, academic classification, Brumfield v. Dodd approval date and reported pre-K and K-12 enrollment. BESE approval is the condition for taking LA GATOR tuition. 72 schools in our directory are on it.

Scholarship lists. The Louisiana Department of Education, Tuition Donation Credit Program 2024-2025 Participating Nonpublic Schools shows which schools accepted STO scholarships. The Louisiana Department of Education, 2025 Louisiana Scholarship Program Scholarship Cohort Indices gives results for schools with enough former voucher students tested.

Federal school records. The U.S. Department of Education, NCES Private School Survey (2023-24 public-use file; 2021-22 where a school did not respond in 2023-24) gives addresses, teachers, religious orientation and association memberships for 58 schools. 6 schools in our directory are in the federal survey but not on the state approval list; we show them so families know their tuition can't be paid from the account. Catholic school addresses missing from the federal file come from the Diocese of Baton Rouge's school finder.

Program rules. Award amounts, priority order, the application window and spending rules come from the Louisiana Department of Education's LA GATOR pages and the Odyssey program help center for 2026-27. Funding comes from legislative reporting on the 2026 session. Rules change, so confirm details with the LA GATOR call center (225-422-1538) before you decide.

What we are

Baton Rouge Edu Funding is a Boss Leads project. We are not a school, the Louisiana Department of Education, BESE or Odyssey. Advisors help families put together a funding plan and connect them with schools that take their funding. Any partner relationship is disclosed where it appears.

If a school is missing or a detail is wrong, tell us and we'll check it against the records.
